Telescope in Walter & Mary Burke Park

We are always happy to partner with them and their willingness to partner with us all in the name of something fantastic for the general public.  We want to Thank New Baltimore Parks & Rec Department for all their hard work and dedication as they serve the public.

Rotarian Steve came to a meeting with an idea for a telescope installation.  Steve and Gloria were inspired during a trip to beautiful Northern Michigan in which they saw a similar telescope project.  So the club put our heads together and got to work to make this inspiration become a reality for the Anchor Bay Area.

Our club worked with the telescope manufacturer and even had the telescope fitted with a lens that allows those who are color sight deficient the ability to see color while looking through this lens.  Not a more beautiful way to see color than by taking in the sights on the boardwalk down at Walter & Mary Burke Park.  New Baltimore Parks & Rec Department were extremely instrumental in helping complete the installation.

Gary Gendernalik, (pictured center) our other longest serving member and club historian wowed the crowd with lots of interesting facts about the Anchor Bay area.  Gary is always a delightful person filled with very interesting stories of history.  His delivery and vast knowledge make you lose sight of time and wanting to learn more.
