Rotary has a very strong platform to strengthen literacy. We read in a local newspaper about this amazing young man, Cody, who wanted to build a special corner in his elementary school’s library in honor of his late mother who passed away from Cancer. Many of the books he selected focus on helping young people face and overcome grief of losing a loved one. He also chose many subjects that were shared between he and his mother. She had a huge love of music which she passed along to Cody as well as a shared love of science.

Cody is in the Fraser Public School district, which is outside our area of Anchor Bay but it was an easy decision for our club to get involved and make a donation towards his efforts. Cody is an amazing young man and will certainly continue to be a change maker as he makes his way through life. Anchor Bay Rotary felt strongly in supporting Cody at the same time exemplifying that helping outside your district lines is an important quality that many should easily adopt.
